Querencia Golf Club

The championship golf course at Querencia Golf Club plays to aficionados of exquisite luxury in the same way that old Cabo catered to sports enthusiasts.

The top-ranked golf club on the peninsula’s 300-acre property has 18 courses that wind through deep arroyos and rest atop cool, arid plateaus.

Unquestionably not a location for everyone. Querencia Golf Club, which is surrounded by ancient cacti and palm trees and is refreshingly devoid of the trappings of busy places, is a place where one can live a life (and play a game) of one’s own.

Golfweek magazine has named Querencia, Tom Fazio’s maiden venture in Mexico, as the country’s top course.

A celebration of nature inside a private, laid-back club setting—truly a gem of Baja.

Fazio’s Querencia Golf Club provides breathtaking views from each hole and a difficult but manageable golfing experience that both intimidates and enthralls its players.

Harmonious changes from hole to hole, subtle breaks, sculpted fairways, and stations with distinctively formed bunkers.

Golf grounds have a lobby that leads to a private 26,000 square foot clubhouse with stunning views of the Sea of Cortez, an 18-hole championship course designed by Tom Fazio, a nine-hole Fazio short course, a state-of-the-art practice facility, and other golfing amenities.

The Quence is located between Palmilla and Costa Azul on an 840-acre hillside.

There are two types of golfers: those who already adore Tom Fazio’s creations and those who will.

For those who are familiar with the sport and the man, Fazio is a true golfer’s golfer. He is the type of course architect that magically designs courses that never intimidate golfers with really high handicaps while yet being challenging and interesting for amateur players.

Jim Samis Jr. and Mike Samis, founders of the Quence and the sons of the original visionary Jim Samis Mr., were met by Fazio in late 1998. When Fazio met the people behind the project and realized the potential benefits of the site, his initial skepticism about taking on a project of this magnitude so far from his home in North Carolina gave way to excitement.

I ultimately agreed to construct his 18-hole Championship Course, which is the only private golf experience available in Los Cabos, which will be his first course outside the United States since the 1960s.

The level of privacy will also be exceptional with only 350 golf memberships available on a worldwide, invitation-only basis. After seeing the Quercencia site, Fazio stated, “We Knew It Was A Premier Spot for A Distinctive Golf Course When We First Went To The Site.
